Ultimately, Yinniang chooses to spare Tian Ji’an. She determines that his death would plunge Weibo into immediate political chaos, harming the very people she was meant to protect.

The story follows (Shu Qi), the daughter of a high-ranking general who was abducted at age ten by a nun, Jiaxin. Over 13 years, the nun trains her to be a lethal, shadow-like assassin dedicated to eliminating corrupt government officials.

She returns to her master, Jiaxin, to declare her defiance. After a brief, symbolic duel, Yinniang walks away from the life of a "sacred assassin."
