Selda Bagcan Gazapizm Oyle Bir Yerdeyim May 2026

Selda Bağcan brings her signature soaring, defiant, and deeply melancholic vocals to the composition. Her voice acts as a vessel for historical memory, carrying the weight of Anatolian struggles, prison cells, and forced censorship. When Gazapizm's raw, rhythmic, street-conscious poetry is layered into or inspired by this classic atmosphere, a powerful dialogue emerges. Gazapizm captures the spirit of modern, concrete-jungle alienation, translating the timeless pain of the original poem into the language of today's marginalized youth. The collaboration or thematic blending of these two figures proves that the quest for freedom, the ache of loneliness, and the pursuit of justice remain unchanged despite shifting musical landscapes.

At its core, the piece is a masterclass in the exploration of human duality and existential crisis. The central lyrical motif features the striking contrast between shedding leaves and a blooming spring garden. This line masterfully encapsulates the paradoxical nature of the human experience, particularly under conditions of political, social, or personal oppression. Öyle Bir Yerdeyim ki (feat. Ahmet Kaya)» — Selda Bağcan The central lyrical motif features the striking contrast

The song Öyle Bir Yerdeyim ki originally written as a poem by Hasan Hüseyin Korkmazgil and composed by Ahmet Kaya represents a monumental pillar in Turkish protest and folk music. When legendary folk icon Selda Bağcan performed it and eventually crossed paths in collaborative spirits with modern artists like the rapper Gazapizm, the track transcended generational boundaries. It became a living bridge connecting the raw emotional struggles of the past with the urban realities of the present day.
