During filming, the set was adjacent to Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein . This led to surreal sightings of Glenn Strange’s Frankenstein Monster having lunch with Blyth in her mermaid tail.

Ann Blyth, who was only 19 at the time—36 years younger than Powell—had a strictly non-speaking role. She portrayed the character through laughter, song (without words), and tears.
