Set in the late 1970s, Mindhunter follows FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany), along with psychologist Wendy Carr (Anna Torv). In the premiere episode, the FBI is at a crossroads. Law enforcement is still using old-school methods to solve crimes, but Ford realizes that the "traditional" motives—money, revenge, or passion—don't explain the rise of increasingly erratic and gruesome murders.
